Hij was Nederlands kampioen schaken in 1970 en was rond die tijd nationaal en internationaal een gevreesd tegenstander.<\/p>\n<p>Voor onze club liggen zijn kwaliteiten vooral bestuurlijk en organisatorisch. Hij is 18 jaar secretaris van de club geweest en was jaren en jaren de grote motor achter Philidor I. Erelid, eresecretaris. Samen met Kees en Leo heeft hij tien jaar lang zeer lezenswaardige jaarboeken gemaakt. De laatste, het jubileumboek in 2022 had bijna 300 pagina&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>Bovenal is Eddie een zeer aimabele man die er niet van houdt om in het zonnetje gezet te worden.
